Running shoes required! This role will get you running along behind the kids and helping them to gain the skills and confidence needed to master a two-wheeler. No teaching experience is needed, but volunteers should have good communication skills and sufficient fitness to manage two 1-hour classes that will involve some running and hills- particularly as the course progresses. Experience working with children with disabilities is an asset but not required. Our Learn to Ride instructor will guide you through the two-wheeled curriculum as you help guide your student towards success. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get into education or rehabilitation medicine or for anyone just looking to make a difference in the life of a child.
Classes will run in the parking lot of Goldbar Park for six weeks starting on Thursday May 2. There will be two back to back classes from ~6-8 pm (Group A from 6-6:50: children that require one on one volunteer support, Group B from 7-7:50: children that require the support of 2 adults). All volunteers will be assigned to two students for the duration of the classes (as scheduling permits).
